OUR PEOPLE
Exceptional service is delivered by exceptional people. Since our strategy is to put clients first, it follows that we must employ and develop outstanding people - and empower them to do great things for our clients. In recent years we've been increasingly successful in attracting and developing bright, commercially minded people with the skills to make a real contribution to clients' performance.
We've invested considerable effort and money to get to this point; and our strong growth has helped us, as we've been able to bring in a steady stream of talented graduates and lateral hires. But the downturn has made things tougher: like our peers, we've had to retrench and reshape the firm to match changing demand.
It's been a challenge to make headcount reductions while maintaining people's motivation and engagement - and while hanging on to the talent we've worked so hard to acquire. It's also been a challenge to maintain our distinctive can-do culture.
But in good times and bad, the service we deliver to clients depends on essentially the same things:
- Attracting and retaining the right individuals
- Giving them the right skills
- Sustaining the right culture.
We've continued to focus effort on all these areas, tailored to the past year's exceptional market conditions.
